Open for private groups all year round in English language
The Space Park Väisälä provides various services for visitors in English. We are mainly open in english for private groups but occasionally we also have public shows in English. We wish you welcome to learn and experience the space with us!
Planetarium
In the planetarium, you’ll be immersed in films thanks to the 180° screen that surrounds you.
A wide selection of movies is available in various languages, covering diverse themes—from the farthest reaches of space all the way to planet Earth.
We also have mobile planetarium available for schools, private events and public viewings.
Guided tours
Guided tours of the Space Park offer a deep dive into Finland’s largest observatory and modern astronomy or into our solar system!
During the observatory tour, you’ll visit highlights such as Finland’s largest telescope and an impressive rock tunnel.

Yrjö Väisälä Museum
Explore the history of the Tuorla Observatory, the incredible inventions of its brilliant yet quirky founder, and various telescopes at the Yrjö Väisälä Museum.
Learn how Tuorla has contributed to astronomy, including the creation of some of the world’s most precise telescopes and distance measurements!
Other activities
Laboratory & ice cream
In our laboratory you can make your own comet (for children) or create ice cream using the liquid nitrogen (for adults).
Star & solar shows
Star shows are in our program between october till april, basically when the nights are dark in Finland.
Meeting rooms
There are four meeting spaces available to rent. The side activities such as planetarium show or a visit to Yrjö Väisälä museum is a nice way of taking a break during the meeting.
Seminar room 1 & 2: classroom arrangement for up to 50 people.
Seminar room 2: Cozy sofa arrangement for up to 14 people.
Seminar room 3: Group work space for up to 22 people.
Seminar room 4: Small meeting room for 18 people.
All spaces are equipped with a projector or TV for presentations.
Catering available on request.
Lunch is possible via the Tuorla Guesthouse.
The planetarium is also available as a meeting space, for extra special meetings.

Planetarium & Observatory
Our fully digital high-resolution planetarium has various movies on various astronomy topics. The planetarium can also be used to just view the stars and learn more about the night-time sky.
We also offer tours of the Observatory, going into the history and construction of the area, topics of research, as well as visiting Finland’s largest optical telescope.
Outside we have set up a path of the solar system, with the sizes and distances of the planets to scale. Guided tours with stories about the planets are also available.
Presentations on astronomical topics, or the work of an astronomer are also available.
We also have a mobile planetarium available for schools, private events and public showings.
